CAMPUS SUMMARY
Alabama State is a public, historically black university. It was founded as a Normal school in 1867, joined the state university system in 1887, and gained university status in 1969. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; Business Administration; Education; Science; Mathematics and Technology; and Health Sciences, and the School of Music. Its 168-acre campus is located near downtown Montgomery.
